چکیده

The interaction between spin and charge degrees of freedom offers a powerful tool to manipulate magnetization in memories by the current induced spin–orbit torque. This novel phenomenon, conventionally existing semiconductors metallic systems, has recently been observed transition metal oxides, exhibiting surprising large spin-Hall angle. In this Perspective, we will review recent research progress spin–charge conversion remaining challenges, new opportunities. We first briefly summarize representative including SrIrO3, SrRuO3, IrO2, along with other materials predicted calculations. Next, survey possible candidate family oxides. Recent advances growth SrIrO3 films be reviewed implications on study effect. also discuss promising candidates that could serve as source, pyrochlore delafossite oxides well oxide heterostructures.

Electroplating lithium transition metal oxides

Materials synthesis often provides opportunities for innovation. We demonstrate a general low-temperature (260°C) molten salt electrodeposition approach to directly electroplate the important lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cathode materials LiCoO2, LiMn2O4, and Al-doped LiCoO2. The crystallinities and electrochemical capacities of the electroplated oxides are comparable to those of the powders sy...

Spectral functions in doped transition metal oxides

We present experimental photoemission and inverse photoemission spectra of SrTiO3−δ representing electron doped d 0 systems. Photoemission spectra in presence of electron doping exhibit prominent features arising from electron correlation effects, while the inverse photoemssion spectra are dominated by spectral features explainable within single-particle approaches. We show that such a spectral...

Resistive Switchings in Transition Metal Oxides

Promising candidates for the next-generation memory devices have emerged one after another for the last decade. Ferroelectric random access memories (FeRAM), magnetoresistive random access memories (MRAM), phase change memories (PCM) are indeed at the dawn of the international development races. Along with those three fascinating memories, we focus here on probably the most seminal candidate of...

Spin–Orbital Physics in Transition Metal Oxides

We present the main features of the spin-orbital superexchange which describes the magnetic and optical properties of Mott insulators with orbital degrees of freedom. In contrast to the SU(2) symmetry of spin superexchange, the orbital part of the superexchange obeys the lower cubic symmetry of the lattice and is intrinsically frustrated. This intrinsic frustration and spin-orbital entanglement...

In-Situ Analysis of Valence Conversion in Transition Metal Oxides Using Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy

Transition metal oxides are a class of materials that are vitally important for developing new materials with functionality and smartness. The unique properties of these materials are related to the presence of elements with mixed valences. The measurement of cation valence states can be performed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and other chemical techniques, but these techniques are sui...
